(English) - Allow Me to Re-Introduce Myself
The Spanish version of the White House website was removed, so today I’m taking a break from my regularly scheduled Policy for The People updates to re-state the mission in a new light.
As a Black American who knows our history, these attacks on access are all too familiar; reminiscent of a time when we were told we were not allowed to read, write, or participate in the democratic process. Even after the federal government said we could participate, many states (like my home state of good ole Mississippi) still found new legal loopholes that would keep Us uninformed and out of the process. These aren’t new tactics.
However, my response is brand new. For the next two years, Policy for The People will only serve underrepresented Vermonters, primarily focusing on state policy. In years three to five, I will add Mississippi and Minnesota. Within the next decade I will cover all fifty states to provide daily legislative updates in a few bullet points and ten languages (including
ASL and BASL.
I’m circulating this information because this is a call upon any like-minded underrepresented people who have the capacity to write about local policy and circulate this information in terms that our communities can access and understand. In the next four years, it is up to US to ensure that the push for equity does not die. Please keep an eye on local and federal policy to ensure the information is fairly disseminated.
This is Policy for The People.
