(English) Policy for The People - An Introduction
Greetings to you and welcome to what I am calling Policy for the People. My sole goal is to help engage Black Vermonters, people of color, residents with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups in our legislative process DURING the session. This is a service I am providing for free and promise that it will help remove many of the barriers that normally keep us out of the process.
Access to legislative activity should not be difficult to navigate. Moreover, you should not have to take off work to go to the State House every time you want to be heard (contrary to popular belief: you actually don’t need to).
I’m here to help decode local policy and encourage you to voice your opinions in ways that fit your lifestyle. More on that later; but for now: please know that you can count on the following every Tuesday through Friday until the end of the legislative session:
1) Translations and explanations of relevant legislative information into five languages (and five quick bullet points or less) every Tuesday through Friday. At this time, those languages are: English, Spanish, French, Nepali, and Swahili.
2) Status updates about new laws or changes that could impact your everyday life.
3) Occasional images and graphics that may help you better understand difficult law proposals.
4) An explanation of ways you can share your voice without having to make the trek to Montpelier.
Please know that regardless of the legal “status” imposed upon you, your voice is important and you have the right to be heard.
You can tune in every Tuesday through Friday here:
